David Gould Comment by David Gould on October 1, 2008 at 7:37pm
This Sunday 5th October will see the start of a monthly Peace Procession going through Westminster.

It will be a gathering of peaceful people of all faiths and none, to express a deep desire to make peace possible. Programme as follows:

Westminster Cathedral: 1.30 meet outside on piazza. Join in prayers for peace, forgiveness and reconciliation. Depart 2pm

Proceed to Westminster Abbey, and Methodist Central Hall, then on to Parliament Square.......Group photo of 'petition' written on a roll of wallpaper, with signatures from all over the world.

3pm - 3.30pm: Present ' We Demand a Peace Plan ' petition to Downing Street.
This petition is to highlight that there is no peace plan for the Middle East. One does not exist. WHY ?

We then continue on to Trafalgar Square and gather at the Edith Cavell statue, near St Martins-in Field for a vigil.

We hope you will be able to come along....

Next procession....Sun 2nd Nov.

Many thanks and best wishes
Maria

We should learn to distinguish between people of the world and the governments of the world. It is the people who count, so all stand up with your voices and languages and be counted. There are many countries, but only ONE world, look after your charge

I Used To Be Proud of my Country

I use to be proud to be British
I thought its cause was just
but now I not so sure of that
I’ve been made to think again

I used to be proud to be British
I thought its justice was fair
but now I’ve seen the other side
I see things differently now

I used to be proud to be British
Its Union flag flew up high
but now we been made part of
dark deeds that shouldn’t be

I used to be proud to be British
and held my head up high
but that was before our wars
and these secret torture camps

I used to be proud to be British
but now I hang my head
we lock up innocent people
before deporting them for death.

I am no longer proud of my country
its name now means shame
we are worse that many others
because we should know better.

On this the 7th day of September it was wonderful to know that lights again shone into this dark world to show that Tibet will never be forgotten.

Hello to all, especially to those who are engaging in the 12 hour fast. I am going to repeat this fast on every new moon, as I do a partial fast anyway in accordance with taking the precepts.
Anyone who wishes to join me in this and/or keep a candle burning during that time and say prayers, is more than welcome.

I am the Candle Flame

I am the candle flame for Tibet on high
My country stolen mountains in the sky
Valleys weep your clouds float on by
Freedom taken from me that’s why I cry
Oh mountain trails how I miss your track
My flame burns bright I want you back
Within my soul I yearn my eyes wet
Tibet you were my life ill not forget
Why did you come take my home away?
Even then you didn’t ask I had no say
You stole my heart my spirit all I had
Now here I burn my flame bright but sad
What did I do I ask the question why
For I grow weary to see my land for I die
Here I stand you smile look down on me
Ill fight for you till my death to set you free
So many years i've suffered silent in pain
How I yearn to touch your gentle soil again
To climb to yonder mountain peek above
Once more my spirit to feel of your love

Vigil

Where are you now,
with your palms together,
bowing,
your dark red robes
wrapping the wisdom
of a thousand years,
white knife peaks,
and over six thousand
monasteries?

Your home not your home
and yet your home always,
you wander,
you meditate,
you chant and pray;
you teach, you love,
or you stay
and must keep quiet.

Yet prayer flags still blow
in high Tibetan air,
prayer flags still blow
in the deep dark-eyed hearts
of your people.
There are places
the intruders,
the violators
cannot reach–
places alive with
the smiles and tears
of your lost land.

Red robed ones
with your calm eyes
upon the world,
you who pay homage
to the consciousness
in all things,
you who see far beyond
appearances:
you know past time,
you love past duality,
and yet you cry too.

The mountains of Tibet,
the vast plateaus and
green valleys,
the sky lakes and blue rivers,
the sons and daughters
of this sacred land
know and wait for you,
and for their time
within space and beyond
to be free.
