La Policía china apaleó a casi 50 monjes tibetanos, que protestaban por la paliza sufrida anteriormente por otro monje, según ha denunciado la organización Free Tibet Campaign. Los hechos ocurrieron el miércoles en el monasterio de Kirti, en la región de Amdo (localizada en la actual provincia china de Sichuan).
La zona se encuentra fuertemente vigilada desde las revueltas de marzo en Lhasa y, según la organización, los tibetanos salieron del monasterio para protestar en la comisaría local después de que a primera hora del día uno de los monjes regresara a Kirti ensangrentado.
Tras discutir con los monjes, la Policía les recomendó que llamaran a las autoridades locales para discutir el tema. Minutos después de la llamada, la comisaría fue rodeada con dos camiones de policías armados que apalearon a los monjes. El encuentro se saldó con cuatro de los monjes hospitalizados, según Free Tibet Campaign.
"Informaciones sobre la terrible represión (sufrida por los tibetanos) siguen filtrándose fuera de Tíbet, a pesar del tenaz intento del Gobierno chino de cubrir sus abusos bloqueando las comunicaciones. El Gobierno chino debe investigar inmediatamente las palizas protagonizadas por policías armados en Kirti, y confirmar dónde se encuentran los monjes hospitalizados", declaró en un comunicado Matt Whiticase, portavoz de la ONG.
Los hechos se producen justo un día después de que China hiciera público su "libro blanco" sobre Tíbet, con el que pretende acallar a quienes la acusan de estar practicando un genocidio cultural en la región.

Agradezco a la gente de Falung Dafa que participaron y dieron su testimonio, y hace varios años siguen luchando por su causa, son un verdadero ejemplo de perseverancia

- Este email esta redactado para que todos las personas de argentina, entre ellos( 2 millones de turistas que todos los años visitan cordoba, medios de comunicacion, habitantes de los valles serranos), sepan que se autorizo la exploracion de una gran zona de las altas cumbres(las montañas mas altas que se ven de todos lados) en busqueda de yacimientos de uranio. La zona en cuestion mide aproximadamente 500 hectareas, se encuentra en el nacimiento de la mayoria de las cuencas de agua del valle de Traslasierra y a pocos kilometros de la quebrada de los condoritos, 'area protegida'.

Vigil
Where are you now,with your palms together,
bowing,
your dark red robes
wrapping the wisdom
of a thousand years,
white knife peaks,
and over six thousand
monasteries?
Your home not your home
and yet your home always,
you wander,
you meditate,
you chant and pray;
you teach, you love,
or you stay
and must keep quiet.
Yet prayer flags still blow
in high Tibetan air,
prayer flags still blow
in the deep dark-eyed hearts
of your people.
There are places
the intruders,
the violators
cannot reach–
places alive with
the smiles and tears
of your lost land.
Red robed ones
with your calm eyes
upon the world,
you who pay homage
to the consciousness
in all things,
you who see far beyond
appearances:
you know past time,
you love past duality,
and yet you cry too.
The mountains of Tibet,
the vast plateaus and
green valleys,
the sky lakes and blue rivers,
the sons and daughters
of this sacred land
know and wait for you,
and for their time
within space and beyond
to be free.
