David what you have created is a unity that I am sure few of us ever thought was possible. Before this campaign we were all little separate units with our worries about the injustices in this world. Some of us belonged to Human Rights Organisations like Amnesty International and so forth...but somehow they all lacked focus.

Quite rightly you have used the Olympic Games as a catalist to focus our attention upon one area of injustice where the Host Nation was the the oppressor. Oh that such a light should be shone on all our countries and their deeds that they would prefer to keep in the dark.

Your solution was a simple symbolic act of bringing light in the form of a candle to be lit to show that we wished to be part of the world wide movement to bring Freedom to Tibet.

Your action has united us in this action and has made a powerful statement to the world and its leaders. This statement will continue to be made as this is only the beginning...Today I joined 21,000 other people in symbolically requesting Tibeten Nationality...the ripples from your first start are spreading out and grow ever stronger.

God Bless you David for starting this and for all the dedication it has taken.

Peace and Love

Mrs. Tatiana A Kostanian Comment by Mrs. Tatiana A Kostanian on August 9, 2008 at 4:34pm
As i initially wrote to David, it is because of he and Jens that I have been able to reach out past my home, past my bed and wanting to do more in connecting with 'real live' peoples. Getting to connect to peoples and entities that have not been available to me on the regular internet has been a blessing. I can't even gain access to my own cities transit system because it is not 'wheelchair accessible'. Think about not being able to connect with life in your daily needs! I have waited over 20 years for my local transit system to be available. Yet they told me it is not worth fixing for the disabled. Yet thousands in our city get on my local system just three blocks from my front door, but for the disabled 'we are not worth it'. Isn't that nice to hear ? Well that makes me even more dedicated to being a disabled activist and for human rights. I hope I can get your support to fight back here in my city and nation as well for all of you there. A disability will strike us all sometime in our lifetime. I have been fighting since 1962. Help me to make a difference.

I thought well, if I can't get out externally 'at will' as millions of others do
hopefully I will be able to connect with peoples through 'candle4tibet' and they will hear me and be suportive. I will also continue to fight back for those unable to, however possible.

Well, for disabled lives, not much else has changed here in my city of heart. Of the two that showed, they are two peoples who are members here of the Legacy of Light - Candle4Tibet. Of the over 600 e-mails passed out on the street one day with my daughter's assist, only these two fine gentlemen showed plus another lady externally from our group here. I also sent out over 500 e-mails.

But it is why I am grateful for this group and the peoples here. Once you make a committment you keep your word. In my world that is very important. We need to know we can count on peoples for we haave no other choice(s). \
The other wonderful peoples who showed were our beautiful Tibetan community, who lead us in 'light and prayer' for the evening of the 7th.
I am thankful to have been able to do this, and to have found the lovely people here. I hope to continue to make friends and to keep the light of peace and hope alive and well in our city of heart, by the golden gate.
Thank you David and Jen. Your the best !
Tatiana

I am the Candle Flame

I am the candle flame for Tibet on high
My country stolen mountains in the sky
Valleys weep your clouds float on by
Freedom taken from me that’s why I cry
Oh mountain trails how I miss your track
My flame burns bright I want you back
Within my soul I yearn my eyes wet
Tibet you were my life ill not forget
Why did you come take my home away?
Even then you didn’t ask I had no say
You stole my heart my spirit all I had
Now here I burn my flame bright but sad
What did I do I ask the question why
For I grow weary to see my land for I die
Here I stand you smile look down on me
Ill fight for you till my death to set you free
So many years i've suffered silent in pain
How I yearn to touch your gentle soil again
To climb to yonder mountain peek above
Once more my spirit to feel of your love

Vigil

Where are you now,
with your palms together,
bowing,
your dark red robes
wrapping the wisdom
of a thousand years,
white knife peaks,
and over six thousand
monasteries?

Your home not your home
and yet your home always,
you wander,
you meditate,
you chant and pray;
you teach, you love,
or you stay
and must keep quiet.

Yet prayer flags still blow
in high Tibetan air,
prayer flags still blow
in the deep dark-eyed hearts
of your people.
There are places
the intruders,
the violators
cannot reach–
places alive with
the smiles and tears
of your lost land.

Red robed ones
with your calm eyes
upon the world,
you who pay homage
to the consciousness
in all things,
you who see far beyond
appearances:
you know past time,
you love past duality,
and yet you cry too.

The mountains of Tibet,
the vast plateaus and
green valleys,
the sky lakes and blue rivers,
the sons and daughters
of this sacred land
know and wait for you,
and for their time
within space and beyond
to be free.
